Khadija Ali is the dynamic force behind Global Language Connections, a Minneapolis-based firm delivering interpretation, translation, and cultural consulting in over 200 languages. Her personal journey from Mogadishu, Somalia, to leading a nationally recognized language access company is one of courage, resilience, and purpose.
After fleeing civil war and resettling in the U.S. in 1996, Khadija encountered firsthand the language gaps that obstruct access to healthcare and education. Those early challenges ignited a lifelong mission to connect communities and champion equity. With over 13 years in the language services industry, Khadija has scaled two businesses and now leads a diverse team at Global Language Connections that partners with sectors from healthcare to government.
Beyond business, she’s an active civic leader, serving on boards such as the Minneapolis Foundation, Global Minnesota, and the Citizens League. Her honors include the UNESCO Center for Peace’s Nelson Mandela Award and selection for Harvard Business School's Young American Leaders Program.
Every decision Khadija makes is anchored in empathy, cultural awareness, and an unwavering belief in human dignity.
