I didn’t learn cultural empathy in a classroom—it came from lived experience. I was once the young woman in a clinic unable to speak English, relying on someone else to voice my needs. Years later, I met a Somali woman in the same situation, uncomfortable with a male interpreter and unable to advocate for herself. It was a full-circle moment.
At Global Language Connections, we don't just translate words—we ensure comfort, dignity, and trust. That’s why empathy is my north star. It guides how we train our teams, how we localize services, and how we show up in every interaction. Words matter, but understanding matters more.
